SHORT DESCRIPTION
The University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) is the main State Higher Education Institution in Architecture and Civil Engineering in Bulgaria. It is located in the capital and for the duration of its existence, the University has prepared more than 5700 architects and 25,000 engineers.
UACEG has rich traditions in the provision of academic knowledge and has always encouraged the ideas of democracy and academic autonomy. It is the oldest technical school in Bulgaria. The main objectives of UACEG are: to provide high-quality higher education in Architecture and Civil Engineering; to offer a rich choice of postgraduate educational qualifications; to realise thorough scientific research and effective co-operation with national and international public and private institutions.
In five faculties – Architecture, Civil engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Geodesy, Transportation Engineering, and 33 departments senior executives are educated for the following majors: Architecture, Urban Planning, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Water Supply and Sewerage, and Geodesy. The engineering education in UACEG is closely linked with financial, economic and social issues. Graduates will be responsible for significant material and financial assets, developing and managing projects that require the involvement of numerous staff at a different professional level.
The professional career of the graduates is the best judgment of the quality of education in UACEG. A great number of them are working as designers, researchers, lecturers, and managers both in Bulgaria and in numerous countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America.

The structure of the University is formed by five faculties: Architecture, Structural Engineering, Hydrotechnics, Geodesy, Transportation Engineering, and some educational and administrative units.
The history of Sofia dates back some 7000 years making it one of the oldest cities in Europe. Situated at the foothills of Vitosha Mountain and surrounded by the low lying Lyulin and Sredna Gora Mountain ranges the 1000 square kilometer, Sofia has throughout history been a strategic location and centre.
Vitosha and Sofia are a unique combination “city in the mountains and mountain in the city”, no other European capital has such a natural resource. The Vitosha Natural Park is the oldest nature reserve on the Balkan Peninsula. During the winter, the ski resort on Mount Vitosha is a favorite with skiers and snowboarders alike, and during the summer it is a favorite place for hikers and picnickers.
